The full form of BCA is bachelor's in Computer Application. BCA is a 3-year undergraduate degree programme that focusses on knowledge on the basics of computer application and software development. A BCA degree is considered to be at par with a BTech/BE degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. The degree helps interested students in setting up a sound academic base for an advanced career in Computer Applications.The course of BCA includes database management systems, operating systems, software engineering, web technology and languages such as C, C++, HTML, Java etc. The fees for BCA generally ranges from INR 37,500 to 5 lakh. The minimum and most important eligibility criteria for BCA followed across all colleges is 45 per cent marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination. There are no subject level restrictions for pursuing BCA as students with any subjects in Class 11 and 12 can apply for BCA unlike BTech.

Recruting companies include both big established companies like HP, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant and new-age technology startups like Flipkart. The average salary package post BCA varies between INR 4 LPA to 10 LPA depending on company and the specific role/designation. A BCA graduate has scope in jobs such as Software Engineer, Web Designer and System Analyst.

After the 12th grade, many students take BCA, a Computer Applications program. The names of the subjects in the BCA syllabus may change from university to university. Web development, computer basics, database systems, programming languages, and information security are some of the topics in the BCA syllabus.

It also has a lot of subjects that teach programming languages, like Java, HTML, C++, and many more. All of the subjects in the BCA syllabus are set up to teach students the skills needed to work in the field of Information Technology.

DCA Course Fees:

The fee for the BCA degree program at respected affiliated universities varies. The starting average fee for the bachelor’s degree program in computer application is INR 40,200. The maximum fee in some universities can be found up to INR 1,50,300. Students can pay the course fee over several semesters to avoid the burden.

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of computer applications


The IMTS-affiliated universities offer distance learning and online BCA degree program. Candidates who wish to be admitted to the three-year Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) undergraduate degree program in India must pass the 12th or an exam equivalent from a recognized board. Candidates must receive at least a 35 on the passing exam in order to be taken into consideration for admission.

  • Students need a 12th-level qualification in the field of science or preferably computer application. At least 50% marks are required in the eligibility criteria.
  • There are many colleges in India from where a BCA degree can be pursued. The average fee in such colleges ranges from INR 2 to INR 3 LPA.
  • If any student desires to study BCA outside India from any foreign University, it will be mandatory to qualify for a language test including TOEFL, PTL, or IELTS. In addition to this, passing the GMAT or GRE will also be necessary.
  • Websites such as edX, Coursera, and others are offering BCA in online mode.
  • The syllabus of BCA is entirely composed of programming and networking. Some subjects in the BCA curriculum are computer networks, data structure, operating systems, hardware lab, client-server computing, UML, OOAD, etc.
  • One can study MBA in Information Management and MCA after completing BCA.
